LAB:Fest 2019

Please join LA Baroque for their first mini-festival—a weekend of concerts, a play-in, socializing and more at St. James'. LA Baroque will be joined by Ensemble Bizarria and Kensington Baroque Orchestra.

Friday, May 31

8:00 pm​ RECITAL – Ensemble Bizarria plays Mozart

Violinist Lindsey Strand-Polyak, violist Ramón Negrón Pérez and cellist Alexa Haynes-Pilon in Mozart's Divertimento in E-Flat Major K.563, interspersed with dramatic readings from the composer’s letters. Performed on period instruments in the intimate Guild Room. Wine and water served during the performance. General admission $15, at the door.

Saturday, June 1

3:00 pm CONCERT (note time) – Kensington Baroque Orchestra

San Diego's community baroque ensemble under their director Ramón Negrón Pérez perform works by Telemann, Hasse and Rebel. Suggested donation $10. 4PM Cheese & wine reception.

6:00 pm to 8:30 pm come-all PLAY-IN – Party like it's 1699!

For all players of instruments found in baroque orchestral music—strings, recorders, flutes, baroque double reed woodwinds and keyboards. We play at "baroque" pitch A = 415. Registration is now open for our PLAY-IN. If you are a member of Kensington Baroque Orchestra or Los Angeles Baroque please contact the relevant administrator to register for the play-in free of charge. If you are a non-member, even if you have previously attended our workshops, please register on our online store ($16.99!). Pizza, soda, wine and beer will be provided for all play-in players from 5PM prior to the play-in, which will be on an Italian theme. Advance registration required by May 15. Led by LAB and KBO artistic directors.

4:00 PM CONCERT – Los Angeles Baroque

"Greatest hits 2016-2019"—music from LAB's first three seasons by Lully, Telemann, Bach and others, directed by Lindsey Strand-Polyak and Alexa Haynes-Pilon. Suggested donation $10. 5PM Cheese & wine reception.
