Los Angeles Baroque in John Blow’s “Venus and Adonis”

LA’s community baroque orchestra, directed by violinist Lindsey Strand-Polyak and cellist Alexa Haynes-Pilon, plays in a one hour concert at St. James' to finish their main season — and LAB's first concert performance of an opera. We bring to life an important gem of the 17th-century English vocal repertoire and the first surviving English opera, which served as a model for Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.

Cast: Marisa De Silva Venus, Zachary Haines Adonis, Hannah Penzner Cupid, Elizabeth Laughton Shepherd, Sheila Shahbazi Shepherdess, Jaehwan Kim Huntsman.

Free concert entry, but donations are gratefully accepted. Followed by a cheese and wine reception in the Guild Room. All welcome.
