Acolyte Festival at National Cathedral

This fall, a few of our acolytes will travel to Washington D.C. to represent St. James' at the National Acolyte Festival. These young people and their chaperones will depart on an over-night flight on Thursday, October 4 and return home on the evening of Sunday, October  7.

Held this year on Saturday, October 6, the National Acolyte Festival is an annual celebration at the National Cathedral to recognize those called to this ministry of service at God's altar. All participants get to process in a great procession under the banner of their parish, receive a re-dedication of their ministry, attend workshops and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the cathedral.

We are raising money this summer to cover the costs of this trip, and need your help in the effort! There will be fundraisers including bake sales, a possible car wash or two, and collaboration with several local restaurants where, if you go on a certain night and indicate your support for St. James' Acolytes, a percentage of your meal's cost will go to our youth attending the Festival.

Another way that you can lend a hand is by helping sponsor an acolyte. You can do this by giving directly to the Rector's Discretionary Fund and indicating that your donation is for the Acolyte Festival. This will be a great opportunity for our young people and I urge you to support all efforts to get them there! For further info, please contact the Rev. Gethin Wied.
