June 20 is World Refugee Day (WRD), a day designated by the United Nations to honor and celebrate refugees around the world. WRD is an opportunity to highlight the journeys refugees face, their dreams and hopes for a better future, and our responsibility to advocate for pathways to protection for all people forced to flee home. Throughout the month of June, EMM celebrates WRD through a series of events around education, dialogue, prayer, and advocacy.
On Wednesday, June 23, at 6:00 pm Eastern, join Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and iconographer Mr. Kelly Latimore as they discuss EMM’s ministry to refugees and asylum seekers through the lens of iconography. Mr. Latimore, whose stunning works have helped redefine the Imago Dei beyond the usual white depictions of Jesus and saints, has featured prominently in the last few years within Episcopal and Roman Catholic communities alike, and has even gone beyond the walls of faith communities as a rallying point in civil discourse. Registration is free but required.
If you're unable to attend, please consider making a gift in support of EMM's historic and life-giving ministry.
