Children's Ministry at St. James'

Dear Parents,

I was recently asked by a parent if children are welcome at St. James'. My immediate reply was, “YES, children are more than welcome in our Church!”

COVID has presented us with challenges and I am very grateful that we are able to return to worshipping inside our church.

Nursery Care

Nursery care for babies and young toddlers is now provided each Sunday. Our childcare workers are vaccinated, masked, practice infection control precaution, toys are cleansed after use and we use an air purifier in the room.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School is held for children 3 ½ years and older. In an abundance of caution, classes will continue to be held outside as long as the weather permits. As the weather changes, we will move classes inside. We use the Episcopal Church Godly Play curriculum for religious education.

To register your child for Sunday School, please visit our registration page here or email Mary Chalon, Director of Children’s Ministry.

Other Ministries

We continue to provide Youth Ministry and religious education for our older youth.

If you would like your children to receive communion they may receive it with their Sunday School class in the parish hall or in the church with a parent.

Are children allowed to attend church inside? Yes, this is a decision that parents make. For their protection, we ask that children attending the service inside the church wear a mask. We will continue to maintain social distance.

I invite you to join us in conversation about our programs and plans for the younger members of St. James' on Sunday, November 14, following the 10:15 service in the St. James Room. Soon we will be planning our Christmas festivities, Living Nativity, and other activities.

Faithfully,
Rev. Anne
