To the Beloved of St. James,
Yesterday was a very challenging day for our nation. With concern about unfolding events in Washington, we gathered last night via Zoom to be together as a community, and pray for our nation at the end of the day (view the service here).
We will continue to pray for a peaceful transition of office and for the many issues facing our nation. Join nightly Compline on Zoom here.
As we begin this New Year, we continue to be abundantly cautious as we live stream services. When it is safer to do so, we will return to in-person patio services. I look forward to the day we can return to be in church together.
Not being physically together makes it difficult for parishioners who are moving to offer words of farewell to the parish. We will miss the Rev. Dr. Todd and Susan Johnson as they move to Seattle for Todd to accept a position as Senior Pastor at First Covenant Church in Seattle. We are grateful for their presence at St. James' and wish them well as they move into this new ministry together. Read their letter to the parish here.
See our Weekly Schedule page for additional info on how to join online Zoom classes.
Mondays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm via Zoom | January 25 - February 15
Join Rev. Gethin to explore the Epistle to the Romans in which Paul lays out his understanding of the Good News of Christ and our relationship to it as a people of God. Historical context and a variety of themes will be explored with thought given to how the thought of Paul intersects with our own experiences as followers of Jesus.
Tuesdays, 9:30 – 11:30 via Zoom | January 12 - March 2
Join retired pastor Stan Hirtle and friends to view and discuss a series of video lectures entitled “America’s Religious History” presented by professor of history, Thomas Kidd, PhD. of Baylor University. The lectures will trace Religion in America from Early America to the Twenty-First Century.
Thursdays, 10:00 - 11:00 am via Zoom
Enjoy delving deeper in the word as you join Rev. Michelle and others to study and discuss the scripture readings for each upcoming Sunday. Texts are viewed from a theological, exegetical and pastoral perspective.
Continue to be safe! We are holding you and those on our prayer list in our daily prayers,
