Rector's Update: Faithful Together

Election Night

Brother Todd Blackham has invited us to join his monastery in prayer on Tuesday, 3 November—the night of the US elections. The Society of St. John the Evangelist will hold a livestreamed vigil before the Blessed Sacrament. Beginning at 7:00 pm EST and concluding when the final polls close at 1:00 am EST, the brothers will pray in silence, punctuated by hourly psalms and litanies, praying for voters and government officials, for stability and transparency, for peace and justice, and for our shared political life. It will be a long night for the country; in the midst of this earthly uncertainty, we are invited to join us in watchful prayer, abiding together in the steadfastness of God.

Faithful Together: Stewardship 2021

Ingathering Sunday will be November 15th. We are in the midst of our Annual Stewardship Campaign, “Faithful Together.” Needless to say, your pledge to the ministry of the church for the year 2021 is crucial. You will receive a letter and a pledge card in the mail this week asking for your prayerful consideration and return of your pledge card.

Those attending the 9:00 am service on the patio will be invited to place their pledge card on the altar on Sunday, November 15th. Those attending services remotely are asked to either return their pledge card to the church by the 15th or pledge online.

Children’s Ministry

Children aged 3 and a half are now welcome to join our small group (limited to 8 children at a time due to available outdoor private space ) to meet on some Sundays for Children’s Ministry story and gathering time during the 9:00 am service.

Expect to receive notification emails from Mary Chalon, Director of Children’s Ministry regarding Sunday School. Please RSVP in response, so we can plan for the number of children attending.

4th - 6th graders in Weaving God’s Promises: please expect a Sunday bi-monthly Zoom invitation from Caitlyn Ference- Saunders to join online. If your child cannot join the Zoom, please contact Caitlyn to let her know in advance.

If you have not received emails, and wish to be connected to Children’s Ministry, please call the St. James’ Office at 626-799-9194 and leave your name and correct email address. We would like to add you to our contact list for Children’s Ministry.

Please know that in addition to adults attending the Sunday service, children must also wear masks, and be temperature checked before entering the church premises.
