To the Beloved of St. James',
We are delighted that on Sunday, June 20, we will return to worshipping in our church.
It has been far too long since we gathered within the walls of this sacred place. As we begin our tentative return to Sundays “as normal,” please remember the members of our congregation who have gone ahead of us to meet their Lord during this past year due to COVID and other causes of death. I ask you to remember their families who continue to grieve.
Please see the letter from Bishop Taylor outlining the requirements for safe return to worship here.
On Sunday we will celebrate Father’s Day. Lance Davis and Stewart Davenport will provide our Father’s Day reflections on this Sunday. Following this service, there will be donuts in the parish hall and an opportunity to greet one another. Kevin Baaske and Stewart Davenport will be hosting a Round Table Discussion to discuss your experience of “Surviving the Pandemic.” You are welcome to join the conversation.
Children’s Ministry will continue to meet throughout the summer in a limited fashion. Classes will be held outside or in the parish hall depending on the temperature. To protect our unvaccinated children, we ask that they remain on the playground after class until their parents pick them up at the end of the service.
You are invited to join our Summer Choir which rehearses every Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
I am so sorry that I cannot be with you as we return to worshipping inside our church this Sunday. I will join you virtually from home as I continue to recover from knee replacement surgery. My thanks to those who have sent cards, offered prayers, and to an un-named parishioner who left a voice message on my cell phone this past week singing a selection from one of my favorite Christmas hymns: “Fall on your knees, O hear the angels voices…” Mentioning no names of course—but to narrow down the field, he is one of the guest preachers this coming Sunday. It is good to laugh!
Enjoy Father’s Day and have a BLESSED week,
