Children's Ministry 2023/24

Meets in the Children's Chapel at 10:10 am

Want to be part of the most beautiful work in the world? Volunteer for a Sunday with Children's Ministry!

Every week we welcome our St. James’s children and all newcomers 4 years of age through 6th grade for our Children’s Ministry programs. We gather in the Children’s Chapel at 10:10 am (with the doors open) for a moment of sacred story and song, and then bring the children up to our Godly Play atria at the top of the stairs to the right (with doors and windows open).

Godly Play is our curriculum for age 4 through 3rd grade. Our 4th through 6th graders currently meet in the Parish Hall for "The Shape of Scripture," a responsive "covenant curriculum" developed in-house. Kids are then escorted into the church to join their families for Eucharist and remain with them until the end of the church service.

Our volunteer leaders this year are Sylvia Bergstrom, Emily May, Aline Gram (Godly Play); and Mary Davenport (Shape of Scripture).

We deeply appreciate our volunteer leaders in this important ministry and are hoping to grow our team. Please consider joining us as a helper for one session or more. Children's Ministry registration forms for children and volunteers are available at the chapel door and below.

All volunteers for this ministry must have a background check (paid for by St. James’) as well as commit to taking the Episcopal Church’s mandatory training in Safe Church practices. Vaccinations are encouraged. Masks are optional for children and adults. All our volunteers are fully vaccinated and boosted.
